Solstice & Equinox & How They Benefit You!

The Spiritual Meaning of the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice

Thousands of years ago ancient mystics recognized the journey to enlightenment in the cycles of the sun and stars and the movements of the earth and the cosmos. They revered the sun as the “highest symbol of divine consciousness, and its light the spiritual source of creation.” The major times of the Solstices and the Equinoxes became the points of alignment for sacred sites all over the world.

In his book, “The Path of the Spiritual Sun”---Celebrating the Solstices & Equinoxes, Mark Pritchard talks to us about the “mysterious wisdom-bringers whose divine mission to establish this cosmic knowledge and initiate the spiritual beginnings of our current human age.”

Spring Equinox is celebrated on March 20, 2019 at 2:58 pm PDT. It is also known as the Vernal Equinox. It is the time in the annual cycle when day and night are equal in length. The days start to get longer after the darkness and hibernation of winter. Nature and plant life go into a growth pattern of rebirth and regeneration. The deeper spiritual meaning revealing the mysteries of spiritual resurrection are seen and revealed.

This special time of year is celebrated by religions all over the world symbolizing the resurrection of their God. Christianity celebrates the resurrection of Jesus. The ancient Egyptians celebrated the resurrection of the god Osiris. The Thracians celebrated the resurrection of their god Orpheus, the Greeks their god Dionysus, and the Maya of their Maize God Hun Hunahpu. Many of the great temples like the Great Sphinx of Giza and the temple of Angkor Wat in Cambodia aligns and gazes at the rising of the spring equinox sun as the symbol of resurrection.

Throughout the world, spring equinox is a time of great confrontation between light and dark, death and resurrection, the initiate crossing into an important stage of self-realization.

The equinox is a point of balance in the motions of the universe, the cycles of the seasons, and within ourselves. It is the time that the Great Ones faced their greatest challenges of darkness vs. light. It is through this struggle between darkness and light that the spiritual treasures become manifest.

The plant and animal kingdoms are drawn from slumber by the Vernal energies. Sacred rituals reflect this with celebrations of rebirth and resurrection all over the world.

The progress of the sun throughout the year symbolizes the process of attaining enlightenment. After the Spring Equinox we celebrate Summer Solstice. This year Summer Solstice falls on June 21, 2019 at 8:54 am. The Summer Solstice is the time to celebrate the fullness of the light of consciousness within each and every one of us and to ponder the great potential of that consciousness to awaken. The summer solstice is the final climax of this journey as the day having the most light in the year. According to Mark Pritchard, “It symbolizes the ascension found in many great spiritual teachings.” The Spring Equinox welcomed back the Sun. The Summer Solstice “celebrates the triumph of light over darkness in the individual, and the return to wholeness in which the Son, Mother Goddess, and Father God become one great unified consciousness—a complete, whole, and powerful light that enlightens the individual.

“The Druids, ancient Egyptians, Maya, Romans, and many others have aligned their sites to the summer solstice and conducted ceremonies on this day.

“Light is spiritual in its nature, and so the sun and stars have a spiritual significance that has its roots in higher dimensions—in many ancient teachings they are described as the source of creation. The summer solstice is therefore a highly spiritual time. The summer solstice is described as the gate of ascent out of this world into the realm of spirit by both Krishna, in the famous Bhagavad Gita, and in the designs of the secret caves of Mithras.”

Many Blessings to All !
