Simple Tips For Healthy Blood Sugar !

Did you know that almost 25% of the population have some sort of sugar concerns. There are two types of diabetes, Type I and Type II. Type I is a result of pancreatic failure. This is not the one we are going to talk about today. Today we will look at Type II diabetes which in the past years has become a real health epidemic. From 2010 to 2012 the percentage of people diagnosed with diabetes went up 3.3% in just 2 years. It used to be just a disease found in older adults. Now it is even found in young children.

Type II diabetes is a result of insulin defects. Either the pancreas does not produce insulin correctly or the insulin does not connect to its receptor.

When glucose is elevated in the bloodstream, it causes the cells to shift water from inside the cell to outside the cell. This shift causes dehydration in the cells. When the cells are dehydrated they don't function properly and will not be able to produce energy and the cells will be exposed to increased oxidative stress.

When blood sugar stays elevated for long periods of time, serious health issues can result, including problems with the eyes, kidneys, heart, and cardiovascular systems, as well as impairment of the nervous system.

A number of factors can cause Type II diabetes. The two most common are eating a poor diet lack of physical activity. Other factors are high alcohol intake, history of gestational diabetes, and having high blood pressure.

4 Steps to Prevent Diabetes

1. Eliminate Refined Foods

Refined foods are devitalized and lack nutrients such

as enzymes, vitamins and minerals. Eating food

with no nutrients leads to a devitalized body

2. Avoid Artificial Sweeteners

These artificial sweeteners are much sweeter than

sugar and because of this the pancreas reacts as if

you have ingested a large amount of sugar. This will

eventually impair the pancreas ability to regulate

blood sugar. Other research has found that artificial

can cause diabetes by altering bacteria in the gut.

3. Get Adequate Hydration and Exercise

If we don't maintain adequate hydration, the body

becomes stressed and releases stress hormones

such as cortisol.

High levels of stress hormones can lead to blood

sugar fluctuations and eventually poor blood sugar

control and diabetes.

How much water should you drink? Take your

weight in pounds and divide by two. The resulting

number is the number of ounces of water you

should drink every day.

You also need to stay active for at least 30 minutes

of physical exercise every day. It is highly difficult

to reverse insulin resistance without exercise.

4. Correct Nutrient Imbalances

One nutrient that can help treat diabetes and

reverse insulin resistance it is Chromium.

Chromium is found in beef, liver, eggs, wheat germ,

apples, and brewers yeast.

Maintaining adequate vitamin levels is also

important. Dr. Brownstein recommends Vitamins B2

B12, C and E as well as Folic acid as all help control

blood sugar. He also recommends Minerals

including selenium, zinc, copper and manganese.

Herbs are also helpful. Cinnamon, bitter melon,

fenugreek, green tea, heartwood, and gymnema.

Always check with your health practitioner as some of these could be toxic if too much is taken.
