The Mighty Lemon !

The Benefits of Lemon for the Skin

God must have made the lemon specially for the well-being of mankind, and for beauty as well.

A. After cleansing the skin, apply lemon juice with a cotton pad or stroke the face and neck gently with lemon peel, making sure not to scratch the skin with the peel. This restores the natural pH acid mantle and acts as a natural moisturizer. If your skin is too sensitive to allow the lemon juice to dry, apply and rinse immediately until the skin becomes accustomed to the treatment. Otherwise allow it to dry, which will require probably ten or fifteen minutes.

The lemon juice will bleach out freckles, blemishes, heal acne pimples and blackheads, reduce pores and remove the surface skin with its wrinkles. Rinse off with warm water and splash with cold, then apply a moisturizer. Apply only once a week in the beginning. After a few weeks, apply twice a week, then work up to a daily treatment. If full strength is intolerable, dilute with milk, sour milk, or water. Or apply a formula of three ounces of lemon juice to five drops of pure glycerin, the only time glycerin is advisable. Or add olive oil to the lemon juice.

B. Fingers stained with cigarettes or vegetable coloring may be bleached by rubbing with lemon peel.

C. To strengthen the fingernails and soften the cuticle, a;;py lemon juice daily.

D. Lemon juice mixed with olive oil and almond oil is especially effective in removing blackheads. Steam the face thoroughly with a hot washcloth. Once you have drawn blood to the face, massage it gently with the lemon juice-oil mixture, then, using a washcloth and White Oak Cleanser (a Fanie product) scrub the face thoroughly but gently. Follow with another warm steaming and finish with a cold water splash. Apply a moisturizer.

E. Apply to brown spots and freckles. It often will fade them after a few weeks. Apply with pure cotton balls or cotton-tipped applicators.

If you have sensitive or problem skin, always consult a doctor or dermatologist before using any of these suggestions.
